An over 2000 year-old technological wonder located 45 km away from Chengdu. This water control and irrigation dam was designed to check the Mingjiang River that used to flood the Chengdu agricultural area resulting in the local farmers suffering a lot from the water disaster. Due to the success of the project, the dam automatically diverts the Mingjiang River and channels it into irrigation canals and the local people benefit a lot from it - It's another World Heritage Site in China.

The blue sky, snow peaks, murmuring streams, ancient cypress forests, rushing waterfalls, and alpine meadows make this area a natural romantic dream. The name Mt. Siguniangshan(four girls mountains) came from a beautiful legend of they local Tibetan that says the four peaks are the embodiments of four pretty girls who sacrificed their life for protecting Pandas, like national heroines, but beauties~ . In the fall, the leaves on the trees blaze in color heralding the coming snows of winter.

We got to hold a panda! It cost about $150 (american dollars) and you get abut 3 minutes with the panda before its passed off to the next person but it is an experience that will stay with you forever! And the $$ helps the support the Panda Research Fund. Also we were not sure about the location and almost took a 2 hour cab ride to another panda holding place (we only had a few hours before our train left). We finally had some help and it was about a 15 minute car ride from the train station.

In Sichuan there is lots of fantastic natural scenery like Jiuzhaigou and Mt. Siguniangshan, and this national park is no exception. What's more interesting, it is the hometown of the pandas! Although I'm not a little girl anymore, I love watching the pandas, so nice and fun! Only 2 things are a pity: they can never be a colorful photo and, they have to wear the smoky eyes for ever... It's also located in the Aba Tibetan-Qiang Autonomous Prefecture.
