This is a scenic drive through Carmel-by-the-Sea, a beautiful hideaway on the coast of the pacific that's probably best known for having Hollywood stars as mayors (Clint Eastwood, Sonny Bono, etc.) but it has an older history as an old Spanish settlement and later as an artist community. Either way, the city itself is gorgeous although most things to do there are a bit overpriced - so the best way to see it is just to cruise around. 17 mile drive is a great place to start.
