Whale Watching Center

recommendation by narcis

This was the first of its kind for my Midwest family. You don’t really see dolphins where we come from. When visiting relatives in Jersey we took this seafaring safari to see what kind of marine life was out there. Before we boarded they told us you’d get your money back if you didn’t see anything. I was sort of skeptic but we actually ended up seeing a whole school of dolphins! Tickets were reasonable at $28 per person and they even (okay) food on board.

Sunset Beach

recommendation by narcis

Although Sunset Beach is not your typical beach, you can’t swim or lay out on it, it’s a must-visit for its view. A lot of couples and families go here to check out the sunset, thus the name. Another favorite past-time is looking for “Cape May diamonds” along its beach. They’re smooth, quartz crystals that look like translucent pebbles. There used to be a lot of glass manufactures in the area and these are the leftovers that washed down the Delaware River.

This is a great place to visit for an authentic wine tasting experience. I had never done anything like this beyond watching the movie Sideways. Basically you tour their five acres of vineyard by yourself or take a tour. We took a tour and our guide was very informative and didn’t presume that we knew too much about wine. The actual wine tasting was $5 and you get a souvenir wine glass to take home. We ended up purchasing a bottle of Rose wine for $20.

East Coast Parasail

recommendation by narcis

If you’re planning a trip to Cape May in the summer and you’re adventurous, definitely book a ride (in advance) with East Coast Parasail. Basically you’re harnessed by yourself or with someone to this giant yellow smiley face balloon. I went with my sister and we could not stop laughing the entire time. Our captain said that we could “take a dip” if we wanted. We obliged and he dropped our sail into the ocean for a little bit so our feet (up to our knees) pulled through the ocean.
