The Cape Coast Castle is a beautiful structure. The beauty of it is strange because of the horror of it's history. The castle is magnificent, yet hollow. The air is rather thick, humid, and deathly. Walking in and out of the rooms where humans were "kept" is a horrible feeling. Yet the guides are humorous, and keep spirits up. And there is a wonderful museum. However, on the road near the entrance, there are many street hawkers, and pick pockets. Don't get scammed!
