This was just a stop over on our journey from Minneapolis to Seattle, but it was the strangest and most beautiful place I have been. The town seemed abandoned even though school had only just finished, and every shop front was delapidated. It's located in the mountains, so the altitude made the air thin and my mind giddy. We spent our time in deserted junk shops and empty bars where overly friendly waitresses told us stories of the area. The view from the abandoned copper mine was incredible.
