Statue Park, also known as Memento Park, is a short bus journey outside of Budapest itself, but is home to 42 of the Communist art and statues which decorated the city itself during the Communist era, 1945 to 1989. Perhaps the most impressive sight in this collection are the remains of a statue of Stalin, which was eventually pulled down; now only the boots are left.
As well as the gorgeous building, I loved the fact that the Central Market is not just a tourist attraction. Though it certainly caters to tourists, it is frequented by locals, making you feel part of the real life of the city.
