This is the official headquarters of the government and the presidential residence, built in 1908 and restored years later. In 1800 it was the base for Mutis' Botany Expedition and eventually the National Astronomical Observatory which was built in the palace's gardens, becoming the first astronomical observatory of the New World. The entrance is restricted but don't miss the ceremony of change of guard of the Presidential Guard Battalion, mondays, wednesdays, fridays or sundays at 5:30 pm.
