Patty Hearst was in this apartment when she was taken by the Symbionese Liberation Army. After the kidnapping she was held for ransom in exchange for SLA prisoners, and after that failed for free food distribution programs in the Bay Area. Months later the heiress took on the name Tania and became a full fledged member of the SLA, appearing in recordings and bank robberies.
