I guess old is cool again. I went with a few girlfriends here and thought it was going to be pretty corny. While it was corny, it was the extremely fun kind. I haven’t been roller-skating since I was a kid and as it turns out, I still got moves. They play top ’40 so expect a lot of Michael Jackson throwbacks and of course, Lady Gaga. The little kids zipping by you on inline skates might remind you of yourself when you were young.
Things to do
The kids in our family love coming to this place. Scitech’s purpose is to teach kids about science and technology in an engaging, hands-on way. It’s really fun – even for grown-ups – and keeps them preoccupied for hours. Last time we went they had “Dorothy,” the storm chaser vehicle you’ve seen on the news, on loan. The exhibit was based on storms and had a 10-foot tornado simulator. I recommend getting a membership; you get free admission to the Scitech and many other Chicago museums as well.
