Aït BenHaddou is a beautiful town near Ouarzazate. Its homes are like a sand fortresses.
This little hidden town has served as a filming location for several movies. They shot the scene here where Maximus (Russell Crowe) is sold into slavery in the movie Gladiator. Some scenes for Lawrence of Arabia, another Oscar-winning movie, were shot here too. The Mummy, Alexander, Kingdom of Heaven, The Last Days of Sodom and Gomorrah, and The Last Temptation of Christ were also filmed here.
