Totally different. Part shop/part pirate ship. Great pirate supplies and your money funds literacy projects for kids.
Shopping
A cute little art gallery and zine shop. A good place to buy independent art and find a new zine.
They also have arts and crafts and some clothing.
An anarchist collective bookstore in the lower haight that has a great selection of independent zines, magazines, comics, graphic novels, and books. They always have a pretty good selection of AK Press titles as well. Worth giving it a try.
Also, they have used titles of all kinds underneath the counter, the proceeds from those go to a prisoners' literature project.
This is a small neighborhood and shopping center is filled with shops with items from Japan.
The stationery store in the shopping center has some of the most elegant notebooks I've ever seen, along with cute little stickers and envelopes, etc. There are Japanese restaurants inside the shopping center, and a very cool dollar store as well.
You can find asian fruits and vegetables in the grocery store for a good price as well as different snacks and teas.
Started as an indie zine, now is a store where you can buy comic books, toys and design articles. There also art exhibitions. A pop-culture temple.
