Near the old city is the Plaza of the Martyrs (Al-Merjeh Square, in Arabic), where are the best bakeries in Damascus. The exhibitors that give the street are a real spectacle of nut pastes,cakes and puff stacked in a pyramid. An excellent snacks or even a great gift back home.
