fresh & funky

Nice Youth Hostel right in the downtown. It's on the old french neighborhood.

It's quiet, clean and with big spaces to have rest. Free wifi and they speak good english.

The location it's a bit obscure, you have to go to 319 Jiaozhou Road, and then walk trhough an alley where you will find it.

In the surrounds you have a big mall and varied occidental places to eat.

Buses to Hongqiao International Airport are about 15 mins walking from the hostel, near the shopping mall.

Astor House Hotel

recommendation by dropboy

fancy

The Astor House Hotel was the very first western hotel property in China, founded over 150 years ago so you know that your getting history as well as luxury. A quite and romantic hotel with all the perks that come with a 4 star establishment. The 24 room service really caters to your every need and we certainly loved using it. The hotel reminded us of a set on the movie "Indiana Jones & the Temple of Doom", just brilliant !!!Come and never leave we say :)

Vast cream marble flooring, soft lighting and chandeliers welcome guests in the lobby, while further on in the seating area, royal blue glass, post-modern furniture and patterned carpets contradict. The result is the sensation of smooth luxury and modern design. This hotel is the perfect landing-point to guests exploration of Shanghai, a city once termed ‘Paris of the East’, a busy, cosmopolitan place which reflects colourfully in the black Huangpu river by night.

@ gallery suites

recommendation by johnbrown

@ Gallery Suites is housed in a 1933 heritage building on Hengshan Road (known during the early concession period as the “Champs Elysees of Shanghai”) which was once the apartment of a Russian Princess. This heritage building has been restored with its interiors fully refurbished and converted to a stylish Art Deco boutique hotel in the old French Concession of Shanghai.
