Spanish "Paradors" are hotels built restoring a historical building in a privileged location. The one in the Gredos Mountain Range (Avila) was the first one to be built in 1928. Near the cristal clear Tormes river, surrounded by forests and with views of the glaciar mountains it's a great place from which to explore and hike.
Quality is high but so are prices (but look out for offers, I got 70€ for a double room). Amazing buffet breakfast for 15€ before hiking or horse back riding.
