Dexter needs to appear as a normal guy and part of his masquerade is to have a girlfriend: Rita. She and her to children live in a neighborhood in Miami. The actual location is in California. A lot of the show’s sets are located in Long Beach, like this one. The production crew made some changes to the original house.

This hotel on California was the set for a fake expensive restaurant on Dexter’s second season. They made up the Il Bistro Vino to be the place where Lila and Dexter celebrate a successful sale on her gallery.
This hotel was also a set for another scene. It served as the improvised café by a swimming pool where Dexter and Lila share some iced teas and talk about why they are in rehab.
