Me and my partner stayed at the Butler House this spring. He’s a real fanatic for architecture and loves the appeal of one-of-a-kind B&B bedrooms. We stayed in the Greenwood Room that featured mahogany furniture and lots of warm colors. There’s a great view in the room that overlooks the Greenwood Park (thus the name). The queen-sized bed was very comfy and the shower and bathroom worked without a hitch. Sometimes B&B’s lack modern plumbing updates I’ve noticed.
Places to stay
Nice three-star hotel located in downtown Des Moines. It’s relatively modern – it’s connected to the superb enclosed Skywalk system – but it also lack some updating. Some room amenities (such as the shower, barely-there-curtains, and beds) could use some updating. But since the room rates are so low you might not even notice this subpar stuff. They also offer a free shuttle wherever you want to go so that’s another desirable point.
