The Iron Tomato

recommendation by dakota

If you’re looking for a substantial afternoon bite in downtown White Plains look no further. I feel bad for anyone visiting the city and not knowing about The Iron Tomato. While it may look like an Italian grocery store from the outside – it is – there’s also an amazing sit-down café located inside. They’ve got a pizza counter, sandwich counter, and gelato counter. Right now I’m hooked on their pastrami sandwiches with a side of pasta salad. The portions are huge and the ingredients are quality.

Tango Grill

recommendation by dakota

Just thinking about this place made me say, “Mmmm,” out loud. Tango Grill serves five-star Argentian and Italian cuisine in a fine-dining setting. I came here once with my family (cause there’s no way I’m forking up that bill) to celebrate my cousin’s graduation. The wait staff was very sweet about the occasion and kept a special eye on him. For my meal I shared empanadas as an appetizer and crab cakes for my entrée. I believe the crab cakes are their staple dish because they were perfect.

Korova Milk Bar

recommendation by francis

This bar, based off the “milk scene” from the film A Clockwork Orange, is definitely a fun and surreal experience. Their liquor menu can be very creamy and sweet but they also offer fine beers, etc., so you don’t have to drink milk all night. The bar is decorated mostly in black and white and there are white, naked girl mannequins with wigs placed oddly around the room. They’ll show weird art-house films on their televisions too which helps add to the original Clockwork ambiance.
