Delicious, authentic Mexican food at ridiculously low prices. The Mexican pops (Jarritos, Sangria Senorial, Coke with real sugar) are a nice addition to your meal.

A huge menu and fantastic sandwiches! My favorites are the Italian Stallion and the corned beef with cream cheese, which is much better than it sounds. They even have delicious Berghoff-brand root beer in the cooler.
Total hole-in-the-wall Chinese joint that’s actually really good. It’s a family establishment so there’s a lot of TLC put into the food. I usually end up here once every two weeks. I think they put some sort of addictive narcotic in that shrimp fried rice because I can’t help but eat the whole thing (the portion is huge!). The egg rolls are a must too. For people new to Ming Toy beware it’s mostly take out. There’s seating area but it’s very small. It’s also cash only so try and plan for that.
This Greek diner is a Waukegan institution. I love going there at night for saganaki (flaming cheese) with my friends.
Who doesn’t love Mexican food? Lately I’ve been turned on to authentic Mexican food, which means I’ve stopped piling on so much cheese and sour cream so I can actually taste the meat. The tacos here pack a whole lot of taste. I know it’s not terribly creative but I love their chicken here. It’s shredded really softly and marinated just right. The burritos here are obscenely huge and if you actually finish the whole thing prepare to spend the rest of your day on the couch.
