Funk 'n Waffles

recommendation by daisy

This is one of the coolest new additions to the Syracuse area. Located on the Syracuse University Campus, this joint serves as an eclectic waffle joint and music venue. Their waffles are either sweet or savory, think omelet contents except on top of a waffle. I really like their Monte Cristo waffle. Definitely a fun and chill place to go for hangover breakfast. The music they play here always good and the open mic nights have been getting really popular as of late.

Kitty Hoynes’ is a local Syracuse favorite. It’s very much like that “Cheers” bar “where everyone knows your name.” The food here is classic Irish cuisine. They pretty much dominate the whole “fish and chips” meal compared to any other restaurant in the area. It’s not too greasy and the tarter sauce is homemade. Again, I love the environment here. It’s very warm and inviting so that’s especially appealing during cold New York winters.

Shifty's

recommendation by daisy

A lot of different bands come through here, young and old. This place is sort of legendary among locals and my own parents used to come out here a lot when they were first married. Lately I’ve noticed the bands playing here are more-so rooted in bluegrass and rock genres. They have live bands five nights a week, so I would definitely recommend coming to Shifty’s for a tray of wings and checking out what’s new.
