The name’s misguiding – Francesca is not by the river – but the food’s spot on. During a weekend trip in St. Charles my girlfriends and I were craving Italian food, and a lot of it. We love splitting appetizers so we ordered up some fried calamari and bruschetta. The calamari was good but the bruschetta, served with garlic, sweet onions, goat cheese, and asparagus, was amazing! The service was great, but I’m probably not a good judge of that because we ate early, thus avoiding the dinner rush.
Eating & Drinking
We found this place on accident. One buddy wanted to grab a beer and another wanted a burger and viola, we stumbled into the Beehive. Apparently this place is a St. Charles staple because it was super packed with what seemed like regulars. I ended up eating a Rueben – very good – and we split some buttermilk-battered onion rings amongst us. We ended up drinking and playing pool (for free) for a few hours afterwards. The Beehive offers free pool on Sundays and Mondays. Score.
