A great soul-food restaurant in Pittsburgh. The menu is a list of sides and mains, BBQ, fried chicken, greens, yams, cornbread, pulled pork sandwiches and mac and cheese. Awesome! A hole in the wall atmosphere only makes the food taste better! Expect to spend between 10 and 15. They also have great desserts - peach cobbler and cheesecake!
Eating & Drinking
Great greasy pizza place. The pizzas are great, delicous crusts and lots of cheese options (they also have spinach and a lot of toppings to choose from).
Open from 12-1am most days (other days they open an hour earlier and/or close an hour later)
A true Pittsburgh staple, the Original Hot Dog Shop more commonly referred to as the “O,” and in some circle the “Dirty O” has been serving inebriated crowds since the ‘50s. Located in Oakland on the Pitt campus, the “O” is open late hours and is famous for French fries served in outrageous portions. Twice fried and served in overflowing paper tubs, a single order of fries can serve nearly four people. Nights around here can get pretty sketchy, and the bathroom's not for the faint of heart.
Built in 1898, Kennywood Park is one of the oldest theme parks in the United States. A true historic landmark, the park still uses three wooden roller coasters to this day. With its vintage appeal as well as state of the art technology, Kennywood is a childhood favorite as well as a highly sought after adventure for tourists. Highlights include the “Phantom’s Revenge,” a high-speed steel coaster, and the “Racer,” a wooden, duel tracked coaster to race an opposing track around the course.
Built in the late 1880s, the Duquesne Incline was originally used to transport cargo up and down Mount Washington. Rescued and restored in 1963, the cable car has been converted to accommodate tourists and commuters who delight in its scenic route. On a thirty-degree angle and at six mph, the wooden car will smoothly glide you upward while a built-in radio educates you on its past. Once at the top, you’ll find an observation deck that provides and amazing, panoramic view of Pittsburgh.
