Eating & Drinking

BEEN THERE! WANNA GO THERE!

Eating at this place really feels like you've gotten away from the city. It's homy, country decor is a nice change of pace if you're getting out of town for a while. To continue with the country motif, we ordered the renowned Cowboy Steak special, which feeds two with a 40oz grilled rib-eye steak -- aged beef with a cayenne & brown sugar crust, a Caesar salad for each, creamed spinach, potato gratin, sauce bearnaise, dessert, and a glass (each) of the Millbrook Vineyards' Pinot Noir.

This joint may have the best pizza in the area - a solid distinction - but what really draws folks here is the homemade gelato, which is made fresh daily. It's so good, in fact, that it was recently featured in the New York Times. Some of the popular flavors: Bounty (coconut), gianduia (dark chocolate hazelnut), bacio (chocolate hazelnut), and cookies'n'cream.

This hot spot is quiet possibly the most popular new restaurant in the area. A true foodies paradise, this place spares no expense, and it quite expensive. The 8-course Farmer's Feast, by far the most celebrated course, will run over $500 per person. But it comes with eight great courses ($135), $105 wine pairing, and $20 cheese flight. While many fancy-type places like this don't fill you up - even after eight courses - this place certainly did. Make sure you don't eat beforehand.

Cidade Cafe

recommendation by terry

This is a Portuguese bakery - pretty rare in these parts - that also serves some great and inexpensive breakfast and lunch items. Had a couple afternoon hours so kill and spent them here. The coffee was solid, and the staff was nice (they didn't mind me taking up one of their tables for the better part of an afternoon). Really cozy atmosphere.

Lucy's Lounge

recommendation by terry

Sadly, Westchester County isn't known for its hopping nightlife. Or even quality bars period. Except this one. It's kinda got a little something for everybody. It's a chill spot to hit on the weeknights, and its open till 4am on the weekends. The bartenders are usually pretty cool, so long as there's not a big game on or live music. You can get stinky drunk or just have a couple cocktails and you'll manage to have a good time either way here.
