Eating & Drinking

BEEN THERE! WANNA GO THERE!

This is a pretty fun and relatively cheap way to grab drinks before dinner. For just $25 bucks per person (almost what you’d spend on yourself at an expensive bar) you can take an hour long cruise out in the harbor while drinking on complimentary spirits. You can’t lose on a booze cruise. They serve free rum punch, Budweiser, and Bud Light to you while you enjoy the sights and maybe partake in some Rhode Island trivia. You’ll see some pretty wild mansions on this tour.

Mooring Restaurant

recommendation by lucy

I had a fabulous and memorable lunch here. I know Rhode Island naturally has good seafood but Mooring really proves that. For lunch my girlfriends and I opted to do soup and crab cake combos for lunch. You can also order a soup and salad but hey, we were here for seafood. I had the scallop chowder and was floored. It was so creamy and just the right kind of salty. The restaurant itself is also very beautiful. Make sure you request a booth looking out on the ocean to get the entire experience.

This place is a real trip. You won’t find many Newport tourists here because they usually opt for the fancier, seafood oriented joints. Pour Judgement (yes they spelled it wrong) is a huge meeting place for locals. The mood here is really low key, just like the prices. They have this famous special where you can get a beer + burger + and fries for $7. You really can’t beat that and it’s really good. The draft selection here is pretty good too, you’d be surprised by what they have.
