Brilliant food - get the fish. Menu changes seasonally, but always get the fish! So soft - like fluffy clouds. Madeleines are amazing, lemon practically melts out. Decent alcohol selection, gorgeous space. Coffees good, juices better. No reservation policy - good last minute restaurant :)

Hidden - as in a door in the wall. No signs - its on the laneway side of 137 (I've attached a pic of the door - can't promise its going to look the same, what with Melbourne's graffitti scene). Beautiful Japanese (not the same as the real thing obviously - but damn close!) gorgeous presentation, and totally fresh. Bento lunch best value.
On a side note, I came here with a group of friends, and they showed us into the tatami room. Private and lovely, perfect for intimacy, or louder groups.

Couldn't think of a single complaint, and I've been staring at this screen for ten minutes. Food was so good - A & I shared the sashimi entree, Cotechino & pork belly, and ordered all three desserts because we couldn't decide (terrible, but what were we to do?).
Very architecturally clean, and pristine setting. Decent Wine list, heavy on Australian wines.

If its a hot day in Melbourne, or if you just feeling the need for a shake, go to this little place on Elizabeth St. They have a few frozen shakes you can order along with some other good eats. The Banana Vanilla shake has to be one of the best shakes I have ever had. Going along with some really hip music while you wait, its cheap and you will certainly be finding reasons to stop there over and over again.
Japanese restaurant, almost take away.
The fastest restaurant in Melbourne! And when I say fast, I mean fast! You get first the food than the change!
Its like a take away, because there's just 2 or 3 tables on it, but you have the beautifull State Library Square just in front where you can enjoy your meal!
My favourite is the teriyaky chiken with rice!
