Rosemary’s Greenpoint Tavern is quite possibly the last working class bar in the ever gentrified Williamsburg. Located steps away from the Bedford Ave EL stop, this boozing Mecca remains defiantly old school. The interior looks as if an elderly woman’s craft shop puked all over the walls. White Christmas lights and an abundance of plastic flowers create a festive spirit in an otherwise plain room. But the main attraction is the $3.50 32-ounce Styrofoam cups of Budweiser.

A dessert by Michael Allen is perfect for those with a crack-like sweet tooth and an appetite like the cookie monster. From cupcakes, madeleines, and croissants to homemade ice cream, and cookies the place has everything you can imagine. It’s all fresh and made from scratch. The staff, which is all family, is very friendly and extremely helpful, and there is perfect amount of seating available.

Outpost Cafe

recommendation by ivan

This is great little coffee shop located on the more hood-ish side of Fort Greene. The small environment inside has a relaxed artistic atmosphere with a quaint backyard to enjoy your between-sips cigarette. Free wifi and ample outlets are always a plus, but that usually means it's often packed with freelancers working away from morning to night. They do serve beer, wine, salads, sandwiches, and soups with their hummus bagel being to die for. It's not cheap, but few cafes are.
