Juuri is a good restaurant in Helsinki to sample innovative, local cuisine. Feels like an urban farmhouse with sturdy, thick-legged wooden tables and clean, modern chandeliers made of dangling white discs. Attention is paid to the smallest design detail, the little humble clothespin that holds the menu on a piece of black board, the small wooden spatula that serves as butter knife speak to the prettiness of utility that you see in much of Finnish design. Try the sapa´s !!!
Eating & Drinking
Don't miss the opportunity to taste one of the best hot chocolates in Finland. I recommend eat one of the lovely pies are in the café with the hot cocoa.
Remember to buy some candies for your loved ones!
Housed in an old bank, this place is sort of an upscale cafeteria. The food was really good and there was a pretty wide selection of cold and hot food (salad bar, breads, soup, etc.) The ambiance is lovely too -- it's a huge space outfitted with marble columns and a high ceiling. It seems to be very popular with the business crowd at lunch time, which isn't really surprising. Oh and the bathrooms are really really nice.
This is a famous restaurant in Helsinki popular with power brokers, bankers, royalty, gays and the arts crowd, so really everybody. A good old-fashioned ambiance and a good healty menu, this is more like a gallery to visit but is worth too.
