Eating & Drinking

BEEN THERE! WANNA GO THERE!

Just thinking about Chili Johns has made me say aloud to my boyfriend, “If I could eat chili day in, day out, I would.” I grew up eating at Chili Johns and as did my parents and their parents since its opening in 1913. It’s has a nice diner-feel to it with vinyl booths, swivel chairs, and red and white tiles. You can’t go wrong with their chili and the spicier the better. During cold Wisconsin winters with that damn lake effect going on, Chili Johns can really improve your mood.

Kavarna

recommendation by brett

I love, love, love doing computer work at Kavarna. This amazing vegetarian coffee house offers a warm and cozy atmosphere as well as free wi-fi. While I’m not a vegetarian entirely, I would be if Kavarna could cater meals for me for the rest of time. They mostly serve sandwiches that come either in hot wraps, pitas, or cold cuts. I particularly love their Athenian Pizza with basil pesto, red onions, tomatoes, feta and provolone cheese, and red peppers.

St. Brendan's Inn

recommendation by brett

First off, the rooms and their accompanying rates here are killer, I wouldn’t stay anywhere else in town The suites are painted a deep red color and have beautiful mahogany furniture included – a nice departure from the aesthetic of chains. There Inn’s bar and restaurant also appears to be one of the most popular spots in town. It’s a terrific and lively atmosphere that’s also decorated with nice woodwork. Excellent place to finish off a pint (or two) of Guinness and a basket of fish and chips.
