The first time I went here I felt like I was ascending the steps to some ancient, Indiana Jones-type temple. The heat was sweltering and when we entered they had these very DIY-looking fans on the ceiling shielded in some camo-like fabric. In other words, this place was awesome! It’s a small place and it is sort hidden behind a garden shop. They’ve got these amazing outdoor patios that are literally carved out of the forest.
If you ever wondered where the phrase “freshman fifteen” comes from, just head towards Buns. There you’ll find perfectly healthy twenty-something’s chowing down on the best burgers in the area. I always chuckle because they have no idea what's coming. They’ve got single, double, and triple patty meals and quality toppings: bacon, extra cheese, crazy sauces, even a fried egg. The burgers here actually taste fresh and not like they’ve been frozen in a cooler for months.
I was so overwhelmed by the flavors and the perfection of everything that I was honestly a little depressed when I returned home to tuna sandwiches. I had the white lasagna with homemade wheat pasta, hedgehogs, cremini mushrooms, and garlicky greens. It was so creamy and rich and devilish – the same way you’d imagine a super cheesy white pizza (only gourmet). Also, order the ruffled cauliflower soup. It’s also cheesy but much more simple and light.
