I’m not that huge of a beer drinker so I’m probably not the best judge here. But my friends are pretty elitist about their beers and they love this place. The bar is styled after an old English pub with lots of dark wood and dark colors. There’s a beer sampler here that’s really cool for beer novices like myself. For $8 you get six different beers that the waiter will recommend based on your palate. I love going here on Sundays for Trivia night cause I’m a nerd for stuff like that.
Eating & Drinking
Escobar’s serves eclectic “new-Latin” cuisine that’s as tasty as it is pretty to look at. Went here for Sunday brunch and it was easily the best of its sort in Champaign. We had their eggs benedict which differs from usual benedict because it was served over pulled pork. It came with sweet potato fries and an excellent fruit salad (grapes, watermelon, papaya, and pineapple) They also gave us warm apple/banana muffins to start which were appreciated and a nice touch.
Just thinking about this place makes me aggressively hungry. Used to come here all the time when I was a student. Zorba’s is a Greek restaurant and serves my all-time-favorite gyros. They come in all different sizes and are served with this cucumber sauce that’s pretty much puts them on the map. I always order extra cucumber sauce for this reason. On Tuesdays they often have live music and a falafel special that brings the crowds in. Their hummus is good, creamy, and seasoned perfectly.
