Watercolor Cafe

recommendation by stevie

My college roommate was really in to the folk-indie scene so she loved this place. I went with her once and while I didn’t care too much for the music (I can’t help it, I like rock music) but the food was exquisite. We shared the mini Maryland crabcakes for an appetizer and they were served with a pineapple coleslaw and some passionfruit drizzle. Delicious and strange! For an appetizer I had fresh angel hair pasta with shrimp. For people going for the music make sure you arrive early.

Bayou Restaurant

recommendation by stevie

Bayou’s is a casual, New Orleans style bar and restaurant that serves up Southern cuisine in a casual environment. Some of my favorites include the fried catfish po’boy and the hushpuppies appetizers. Even if I’m not there to eat I make sure to order a side of the hushpuppies – they’re that good! I brought a friend from Louisiana here and he said it looked like a pretty authentic New Orleans bar, right down to the bras hanging from the ceiling. Make sure to get a bowl of the Jambalaya!

Rambling House

recommendation by stevie

This is a great, big neighborhood favorite where there’s always a regular on a stool. Sometimes we come in her for local Irish bands and the energy is always good and friendly. And unlike a lot of Irish pub food, Rambling House is actually more than bar food. The chef’s put a five-star twist on pub food and serve up a perfect set up ribs. I love bringing out of town guests here. My mom has some dietary issues and the servers were very accommodating towards her needs.
