I heard about this place through the grapevine. It’s location, right next to a laundry mat in a strip mall, is so unassuming you might think someone’s pulling your leg when they say, “There’s a five-star restaurant in there.” Well, they were right. This place is amazing and Chef Amaury definitely knows his stuff. He’ll personally serve you and also go out of his way to describe all the options on the menu. You must make reservations because there’s only seating for about twenty-six.
This is my favorite breakfast place in Aurora. The price is right, the portions are huge, the staff’s bubbly, and the grub’s tasty. My buddies and I used to frequent Blueberry Hill very, very early in the morning. It was definitely a “rescue spot” for us, we’d end the evenings here hoping enough hash-browns and coffee would sober us up. When I’m not eating here for rescue, I really enjoy the strawberry crepes. I also really like the cheese blintzes.
Walter Payton’s has a little bit of everything: comedy club, nice restaurant, home-brewed beer selection, live music, and lively crowds. I really love the idea of it and wish I had gone into business the same way. This place is a real Aurora gem. The comedian we saw was hilarious – sometimes improvisation can be awkward but she really rocked it. You have to try their “Payton Pilsner” micro-brew – it’s actually really good. They even have a banquet hall for weddings, etc.
This is a good place to drop off sports fanatics for the day. I myself do not care for sports, but my visiting family does. I’ll usually leave the boys here on Sunday and do my own thing. There are tons of HD screens littered around this place that makes it impossible to have any sort of conversation. They also have a “Mug Club” where you can purchase one of their large mugs and bring it back each time for refills (about $5). The food’s “eh” but I guess that doesn’t matter if you’re drinking.
