BEEN THERE! WANNA GO THERE!

I so wish they had one of these cinemas where I come from. I came here on a Monday night to discover that all ticket prices were a mere $1. They show second-run movies here as well as old classics (and not so classic B-films) for cheap. The theater is set up with tables so you can sit and eat with friends. The food's good, not amazing, but you really can’t go wrong with mozzarella sticks. They also have live comedy here that look really good. I’m definitely coming here to see Hal Sparks soon.

This is two-parts greatness for anyone in the Alexandria area. It’s a really cute, independent grocery store that sells unique items that you can't find at normal grocers. In the back there’s this café where you can eat classic Mediterranean dishes: baba ghannouj, stuffed grape leaves, hummus, chicken shwarma, falafel, etc. I probably eat here at least once a week or take something home with me to go. And the prices here are beyond reasonable – compared to anything like this in the D.C. area.

Cheesetique

recommendation by ellen

I went here for a girl’s night of wine tasting and cheese consumption. I had never done anything like this before and let me tell you, I’m hooked. Our server helped us pick out unique cheeses and meats for us to sample. The cheeses that stuck out most from the evening were the Mountain Forgonzola and Formage Fort. They were served hot and you could spread them on the bread they provided. Overall it was a delicious experience and I’m experiencing extreme hunger pangs just thinking about it.
